The Book of Genesis Illustrated by R. Crumb represents the intersection of two very different but curiously parallel histories: Crumb’s 45-year career as a cartoonist, and the many times the Bible has been turned into a comic book. Douglas Wolk, the author of Reading Comics, will discuss Crumb’s artistic evolution from radical underground cartoonist to godfather of the art-comics world. He’ll also explore the history of Bible adaptations in comics form, and will examine the ways that previous Bible comics relate to Crumb’s work.
$5 members, $12 non-members. Seating is limited.
